BUY and SELL baskets are managed separately for each symbol. Depending on account mode and broker behavior, opposite-direction exposure may require a hedging account. The optional CloseOppositeOnNewSignal setting can instead close positions in the opposite direction when a new signal is acted upon.

Shared basket levels

The first averaging position receives its own default take-profit target of 200 points. When two or more positions exist in the same symbol and direction, the EA calculates their volume-weighted average entry price and applies shared management levels.

With the default settings:

  • the shared basket take profit is 350 points from the weighted average;
  • the basket stop loss is 7,000 points from the latest actual entry in that direction;
  • basket profit lock activates at +200 points from the weighted average;
  • the first protected level locks +50 points; and
  • basket trailing uses a 150-point distance and a 50-point advancement step.

The protected stop is designed not to move backward intentionally. The shared take profit remains active, so a basket can exit through its target or through the protected trailing stop.

It is essential to understand that points are broker points, not automatically pips. Their monetary value differs across forex pairs, metals, indices, stocks, cryptocurrencies, and synthetic instruments.

Optional Lot Multiplier

Fixed-lot trading is the default. If the lot multiplier is enabled, later positions in the same direction can use progressively larger volume, subject to the configured maximum lot and the broker’s volume rules.

The default multiplier is 1.50, but enabling it materially increases risk. Larger later positions can make a basket recover faster when price reverses, but they also accelerate losses, margin consumption, and drawdown if the market continues moving against the basket. Lot multiplication should never be enabled solely because a backtest appears profitable.

Single-Entry Mode

The EA also offers an alternative for traders who do not want an averaging basket. To use it, averaging must be disabled and single-entry mode enabled.

Single-entry mode accepts strong signals only and restricts new entries to the configured London or New York sessions, based on broker server time. Its default protection uses:

  • a 300-point stop loss;
  • a 400-point take profit;
  • a profit-lock trigger at +150 points; and
  • a protected level at +50 points.

These values still use the broker symbol’s point size. Session hours must also be checked against the broker’s server timezone, especially when daylight-saving schedules change.

Multi-Symbol Trading and Market Detection

RANGE HOT FINAL EA v4.1 can operate beyond the chart symbol. The user can enable:

  • a detected set of 28 forex pairs;
  • an additional custom symbol list; or
  • both scopes together.

The default additional list includes XAUUSD and several synthetic-market names. The scanner also supports configurable columns for forex, metals, cryptocurrencies, indices, oil, and US stocks.

The user can also disable new entries during selected broker-server hours. All 24 hours are configurable individually. Importantly, an off-hour blocks new entries but does not stop the EA from managing existing positions, updating basket levels, applying locks, or checking urgent protection.

Urgent Floating-Loss Protection

An optional urgent-close mechanism can close all positions recognized as belonging to the Range Hot EA family when their combined floating result reaches the configured negative threshold. It then activates an urgent lock to prevent immediate re-entry.

This function is disabled by default, and its default threshold is 10,000 in the account’s deposit currency. The input name mentions USD, but the actual account profit values are denominated in the account deposit currency; it is literally USD only on a USD-denominated account.

An urgent close is a last-resort control, not a guaranteed loss ceiling. Fast markets, gaps, rejected requests, liquidity limitations, and slippage can cause the final realized loss to exceed the threshold.

Web License Protection

Web licensing is available but disabled by default. When activated, the EA can validate the trading account through a configured endpoint, account whitelist, expiry time, checking interval, and request timeout.

If web licensing is used, the license domain must be added to the MT5 WebRequest allowlist. A failed or invalid license blocks new entries, while existing trade management remains active. This separation is important because a temporary license or network issue should not automatically abandon open positions.

Account-wide values such as balance and equity naturally include the full trading account. EA-specific position and performance calculations filter recognized Range Hot trades. Users should understand the selected trading scope before interpreting chart-only, active-pair, or all-pair statistics.

Recommended Testing Workflow

Before using RANGE HOT FINAL EA v4.1 on a live account:

  1. Install the .ex5 file in the MT5 MQL5/Experts folder.
  2. Restart MT5 or refresh the Navigator panel.
  3. Attach the EA to a demo chart and enable algorithmic trading.
